While in Suriname and the Netherlands the discussion is taking place on the field of questions like "Should or can we have reparations demands?", other countries are already in the phase that court cases
are fought and won and where payment is actually effected.
The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a compensation of US$ 4.6 billion for many thousands of black farmers and indian landowners. The settlement comes after years of struggle and concerns one of the largest recoveries in U.S. history. Of the total $ 3.4 billion goes to disadvantaged indian landowners.more than 300,000 of them claim that their government since 1887 has given no share of revenues from the extraction of such oil and gas and logging on their land.The rest of the damages, $1.2 billion is earmarked for disadvantaged black farmers. The farmers are discriminated for years by the Ministry of Agriculture, that their loans and other arrangements has refused.
